P5 Pond Putty – The TECHNICAL Data

The Description

FW Filtration’s Pond Putty is the latest in epoxy resin technology. It has been formulated especially for both pond builder and the enthusiast. Problems with other putties – such as difficulty in mixing and application have been addressed resulting in a highly effective and versatile product.

It consists of two coloured pastes, which when mixed together can be used for filling holes and cracks where structural strength and water resistance are important.

The Use

It is highly effective as a bonding aid and will bond almost any material to itself or to another providing there is a ‘key’ (rough surface). It is ideal for sealing bottom drains and filter pipework especially where cracks or leaks occur, as this putty is water resistant P5 will even cure under water!!!!!

We have found demand for P5 in other areas such as swimming pools, concrete repair and even surfboards..

We have even demonstrated P5 by cutting a pipe on one of our own filters allowing water to gush out and then sealing it back up again using this putty.

The Packaging

P5 Putty is packed in 500g a d 1kg packs.

The Preparation

Surfaces should be clean and free from oil/grease and other contaminants. Dust and loose material should be removed prior to use.

The Mixing and Application

Two packs are provided in the container. Decide on roughly how much you need and then from each bag take equal portions of putty. Using gloved hands kneed together unit a uniform colour is obtained. Apply the putty to the area needing repair.

A handy hint: Dampen your gloves with water while mixing – this stops gloves becoming sticky.

For a really good finish, smooth over putty with a wet tool or use your finger.

The Cure Time

Because it is a two pack system the two parts when mixed together start reacting from this point, only mix the amount that you can use within 30 minutes.

The putty will fully cure in 24 hours. It can however take a little longer in colder conditions.

The Storage

Store in a cool, dry and frost free place in its original container.

Shelf life – 12 months in the above conditions.

The Cleaning

This product does not dissolve in the water. However water does aid removal from hands if used warm and with plenty of soap.

We would advise the use of rubber gloves when using this product.
